Zika is a name of mosquito
borne viral infection. We can bet nine out of ten visitors here did not know
about Zika virus much before the massive outbreak of in Brazil. Now people
around the world are in tension because of this four syllable- Zika. Here we
will discuss about the Zika in details with all the symptoms and proper
guideline for treatment and as well as we will light up some facts of this.
Zika
Virus- What is it
Zika virus is mosquito
borne, especially through Aedes mosquitoes. This is the same mosquito which
transmits Dengue. If someone is affected by Zika virus, we may not detect it at
first sight because it has no conspicuous side affect. This is the reason why
maximum people don’t go for treatment in phase-1.
Like Dengue, Zika has two variants-
One is minor and another is malignant.
Zika
Minor: In this case low grade fever with sore body. These may
come with a minor headache.
Zika
Malignant: In this case Zika may cause an irreversible damage in
our body, it accompanies by abdominal pain and diarrhea sometimes.
In research it is found that
Zika may damage nervous system and may cause severe neurological problems. It
leads muscle relaxation and sometimes even partial paralysis!
For new born baby, Zika has
been proved deadly enough because it can cause microcephaly, which leads incomplete
brain development!

Symptoms
There are some general
symptoms of Zika attack on human body. But the symptoms are too common to differentiate.
- Headache- Sometime it can be serious enough and may touch an unbearable level.
- Fever- Mild fever is seen but in case of malignant fever, it can touch 105 degree farenhite also!
- Rash- Skin infection is a common symptom
- Red eye- Conjunctivitis is a common superficial symptom of Zika attack.
The symptoms are somewhat
similar to Dengue and chikungunya. That is why sometime people get confused.
The diagnosis starts with blood test. But remember one thing that you need to
tell everything to your physician if you have travelled somewhere recently.
Treatment of Zika
There is no scheduled treatment
for Zika. Only Paracetamol can be used to get relief from fever and pain but
Aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs should not be used in any case. Patients
are advised to drink a lot of water every day.
During the first week, take
maximum care because at this period, virus can be found in blood and peripheral
body fluids.
